Pedestrian Struck By Jeep In Somerset County

A pedestrian was found unconscious in the roadway after being hit by a Jeep in Somerset County on Wednesday, April 12, authorities said.

First responders found the victim in the roadway “unconscious but breathing” on Somerset Street near Juliet Avenue in Franklin Township shortly before 8:05 p.m., according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital BLS and paramedics.

A follow-up investigation found that the crash occurred when a Jeep Cherokee heading southbound on Somerset Street hit the victim, who had entered the roadway.

A portion of Somerset Street was closed for about three hours after the crash, which remained under investigation.
